Techsupport:

REMOTE DESKTOP ASSISTANCE
  • Cyberfox Computers is proud to offer Remote Desktop Assistance to all of our clients.

What is Remote Desktop Assistance (RDA)?
  • Remote Desktop Assistance (RDA) gives a service technician the ability to access a clients computer SECURELY from anywhere ONLY with the clients permission.

How does Remote Desktop Assistance work?
  • The client requests the Remote Desktop Assistance (RDA) link. The link then provides the client with a unique 6 digit Client ID number. The client then has the option of either emailing or phoning their 6 digit Client ID number to the technician. The technician then starts the session and enters that unique 6 digit client ID number which then connects the tech to the clients computer. Once connected the client will receive a message again asking permission to allow the technician access to their computer. Once access is granted then the technician can see real-time what the problem is and will either be able to fix on the spot or advise the client that their computer does need to come into the shop.

  • The access to the clients computer allows the technician to solve many problems (not all problems) for the client remotely (from another location) There is no extra software to install on the client's end - the client simply needs a web browser and an internet connection. The client may be asked to install a "plug-in" for their web browser(either firefox, internet explorer) but that is all. The connection only lasts as long as the service session is active.

    Is Remote Desktop Assistance Secure?
  • RDA is very secure. Your technician CANNOT access your computer without the unique client ID number that is generated for each remote session. While connected to your computer the technician has a real-time view of what is going on with your computer, and has the ability to fix many issues while connected and the client can see everything the technician is doing. The client has the option of using the available chat program included with the RDA or the client certainly has the freedom to speak with the tech over the telephone while repairs or diagnostics are taking place.

How is Remote Desktop Assistance of benefit to the client?
  • RDA benefits both the client and the technician. Oftentimes a customer may have a problem that is easily fixed. For example the screen resolution has changed and the icons on the desktop are too large or too small or a driver (video or sound) has become corrupt. This is where RDA benefits the client - instead of paying for a callout, the client can request RDA service and the problem can be fixed quite easily and quickly. RDA is also of benefit to the technician - sometimes the problem is more complicated and cannot be fixed via Remote Desktop Assistance. By using RDA the technician is able to confirm with the client that the problem will require a callout or may require the computer to be taken back to the shop to be worked on. RDA saves time for both the client and the technician.
